VFFS machine cost cannot be compared from the bagger model alone. One quotation may cover only the vertical bagger; another may include product feeding, weighing or dosing, forming sets, coding, inspection, discharge conveyors, controls integration, FAT, documentation, commissioning and spare parts.
Ask every supplier to price the same product, dose, bag drawings, film, accepted output, test duration, reject basis, utilities, destination and included services. Until those boundaries match, the lowest number is not necessarily the lowest-cost solution.
First determine what the quoted VFFS system includes
The term “VFFS machine” can describe a primary bagger or a coordinated packaging line. A meaningful comparison separates every subsystem and interface.
Form, seal and cut
Film unwind and tracking, forming shoulder and tube, longitudinal seal, cross seal, cutting, guarding and machine controls.
Feed and dose
Hopper, conveyor or elevator, weigher, auger, cup, pump or another product-specific dosing architecture.
Formats and film
Forming sets, bag dimensions, seam style, registration, gusset or other confirmed features and production-representative material.
Code, inspect and reject
Printer, code verification, checkweighing, metal detection or other inspection and reject-confirmation requirements.
Move and integrate
Discharge, conveyors, secondary packaging, line controls, safety interfaces, data and utilities at every responsibility boundary.
Test and hand over
Samples, FAT method, documents, backups, training, commissioning, spares, freight basis and destination responsibilities.
Use the vertical form fill seal machine guide when the process route is not yet fixed. If the project includes several machines, use the packaging system integration checklist to define the complete boundary before comparing prices.

The most expensive line item can be an omitted boundary
A lower quotation may simply exclude the elevator, filler, discharge, inspection, controls interface, test material, format parts or site service included elsewhere. I would compare every proposal against one responsibility matrix before comparing totals. Missing scope discovered after the purchase order is harder to negotiate and harder to validate.
Separate purchase price from the cost of owning the line
A useful total-cost comparison records assumptions instead of pretending to predict one universal number. Use the same production horizon and evidence basis for every option.
Do not convert optimistic brochure speed into labor savings or capacity without an accepted-output test. The production basis should state the product, dose, film, bag, test duration, rejects, refill conditions, planned operator actions and downstream state.
PMMI’s Total Cost of Ownership guidance likewise frames acquisition and operating costs across the machine lifecycle rather than treating purchase price as the whole decision.
If the quotation is intended to address an aging installed machine, complete the VFFS rebuild versus replacement decision before comparing totals. Both routes need the same production requirement, shutdown boundary, acceptance method and remaining-risk assumptions.
Normalize the proposals before ranking suppliers
Put every quotation into the same comparison sheet. Mark an item as included, optional, excluded, buyer-supplied or unconfirmed; do not leave a blank cell to carry an assumption.
- Same product basis: samples, operating condition, dose range and acceptance method.
- Same package basis: controlled drawings, film specification, roll data, formats and coding.
- Same output basis: accepted bags, test duration, rejects, refill and downstream conditions.
- Same equipment boundary: bagger, filler, feed, inspection, discharge, controls and guarding.
- Same FAT boundary: samples, test methods, challenge conditions, records and deviations.
- Same delivery boundary: Incoterm, destination, documents, spares, training and site support.
- Same lifecycle assumptions: formats, changeovers, cleaning, maintenance, parts and expected operating pattern.
For a higher-quality supplier comparison, connect the price sheet to one user requirement specification and one FAT plan. That prevents an attractive option from being accepted without the interface or test needed to run it.
Send these inputs to obtain a usable VFFS quotation
Product and dose
Representative samples, photos, composition or condition limits, dose range, accuracy or giveaway basis and recipe count.
Bag and film
Controlled drawings, film specification and roll direction, print repeat, seam style, coding and all required formats.
Output and quality
Accepted bags per minute by priority format, test duration, allowable rejects and the required package tests.
Line interfaces
Upstream feeding, inspection, discharge, downstream equipment, controls, data, reject handling and utilities.
Site and destination
Electrical supply, compressed air, environment, layout, elevation, destination requirements and documentation language.
Commercial boundary
Required Incoterm, delivery location, installation, commissioning, training, spares, warranty and support responsibilities.
Mark every unconfirmed input. A budgetary estimate can support early planning, but a firm commercial comparison needs an agreed configuration and acceptance basis.

VFFS machine cost FAQ
How much does a VFFS machine cost?
A responsible quotation depends on the product and dosing system, bag and film, accepted output, machine width and motion, inspection, line integration, FAT, destination and service scope. INMAYPACK does not publish one universal price range because the same label can describe a bare bagger or a complete configured line.
Why can two VFFS quotations differ so much?
They may include different fillers, feeders, forming sets, inspection devices, conveyors, controls, materials, documentation, tests, commercial terms and support. Normalize the scope and acceptance basis before treating the totals as comparable.
Does higher speed always increase the cost?
Required accepted output can affect the bagger, dosing, sealing, film handling, replenishment, inspection and downstream design. But headline speed alone is not a sufficient cost basis; product, bag, film, rejects and test conditions must be fixed at the same time.
What is usually excluded from a basic VFFS machine price?
There is no universal exclusion list. Ask each supplier to state the status of product feeding, dosing, forming sets, coding, inspection, discharge, controls integration, FAT materials, freight, site work, training, spares and support.
What should be sent before requesting a quote?
Send representative product and film, controlled bag drawings, dose range, required accepted output, package tests, cleaning and changeover expectations, utilities, line interfaces, destination and the commercial delivery boundary.

Need a VFFS quotation on one defined production basis?
Send the product, dose, bag drawings, film, accepted output, line boundary, destination and required FAT evidence. INMAYPACK will identify missing scope before preparing the applicable proposal.
